Short Breaks for Disabled Children Our Short Breaks for Disabled Children service allows children, young people and their families the opportunity to enjoy safe, flexible and engaging short breaks in the Wirral. We run weekend social activity groups for children and young people with a disability and/or complex needs. Groups run during term time and school holidays, providing a vital break for parent carers. Children participate in fun activities in a safe environment with qualified care staff. Groups offer an exciting activity programme planned around the needs of each child and young person. The groups provide positive experiences by promoting friendship and encouraging social activities, new experiences and supportive relationships. Have your say! Join our new steering group We need your help to ensure the short breaks service reaches more children and families - both geographically and across the spectrum of need. Part of our new model of working for the short breaks service is the development of a new Children’s Short Breaks steering group. The steering group will support the planning, coordination, and continuous improvement of short break services for children and young people with disabilities across the borough. If you are a young person who may use the service, a parent carer, or professional working with children with special educational needs and disabilities in the area - we want to hear from you!
