Successful Event Marks Start of Carers Week Over 100 people attended a special event for unpaid carers at the Kindle Centre in Hereford to mark the first day of Carers Week on Monday 9th June. The event celebrated the relaunch of Herefordshire Carer Links, a dedicated support service for unpaid carers run by the leading charity TuVida on behalf of Herefordshire Council. Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring. The event included talks by Councillor Carole Gandy, Cabinet Member for Adults, Health and Wellbeing, John Burgess, Commissioning Manager at Herefordshire Council, and Gareth Howells, TuVida CEO. Market stalls from a range of local services were available for people to visit and the event concluded with a performance by The Kindle Singers – an over 55s choir that meet and practice at the Kindle Centre. Gareth Howells, TuVida CEO, said: “It was fantastic to see so many carers and professionals come together for the re-launch of our Carer Links service in Herefordshire to mark the start of Carers Week. Unpaid carers take on extraordinary responsibilities every day, often to their own detriment, and it was powerful to see the commitment from so many local organisations to work together to improve carers’ lives and wellbeing.” If you are a carer and have questions about caring for someone or need some help or advice, please email our Carer Links team: [email protected] Photos from the event
